Dunedin: rain doesn't stop play PDF Print E-mail

In Dunedin, the heaviest rains of the year have fallen on the occupied Octagon - ooccupiers have responded by pulling together to rig up makeshift roofs and awnnings, with a little help from Robbie Burns, the people's poet.
The most urgent work is rigging up these shelters. Tents aren't the most comfortable at the best of times but in torrential rain like Dunedin is awash in at the moment (and which is forecast to continue for more than a week) shelters become an urgent political task.
It's not possible to print leaflets or make the kinds of displays needed to reach out to the public when everything is sodden with water.
Donations of food, materials and cash are coming in, but more is always needed.
Once the occupation figures out how to survive the rain, we can start to work on building the protest to include thousands more people.
