We are told that we live in a democracy, that the opportunity to vote once every three years, between a small handful of politicians gives us total control over our lives.

This is bogus. Most of our lives are spent in the workplace, most of our lives are spent in some of the most autocratic organizations in existence. You have no vote on your conditions, no vote on your wages, no vote to control where and how you work.
It is those who own who rule. The rich, the CEOs and the bosses are the ones who have the most control in society. They live glamorous lives, dodge taxes, and are made out to be the ‘model’ to which we should conform. People like Donald Trump get their own television shows to show off their lifestyle. However, these people do not get into power through skills or right. They reach the top only on the backs of others, exploiting and scheming their way. They are the ones responsible for every financial crisis, they are the ones for whom wars are fought, and it is the working class every time who pay the price.
